EcoVadis score

An EcoVadis score is a 0–100 assessment result shown with theme scores, strengths, improvement areas and benchmark context on the scorecard shared with trading partners.

What is an EcoVadis score?

An EcoVadis score is a result from 0 to 100 for the assessed company's sustainability management system. The EcoVadis scorecard also shows scores for Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement, plus strengths, improvement areas, priorities and benchmark context.

Why does an EcoVadis score matter to you?

A customer that invited your assessment receives the scorecard when it is published. This supplier sustainability scorecard helps the customer review your result and helps you identify follow-up work. The scorecard is valid for 12 months from publication.

How does an EcoVadis score work?

EcoVadis customizes the assessment for your activity, size and operating locations, then selects relevant criteria from its set of 21. Analysts review your answers, documents and publicly available news. Scoring covers Policies, Actions and Results through seven indicators. These include measures, certifications, reporting and 360° Watch findings, which are relevant positive or negative news about the company.

What mistakes should you avoid?

  • Reading the overall score without checking the four theme scores and priority improvement areas.
  • Treating a medal or badge as a certification, product label or EcoVadis endorsement.
  • Assuming the score covers a parent, subsidiary or site outside the named assessment scope.
  • Using old medal cut-offs instead of the percentile and eligibility rules in force when the scorecard is published.

Is an EcoVadis score the same as a medal or badge?

No. Medal thresholds use percentile rank: Platinum starts at the 99th percentile, Gold at the 95th, Silver at the 85th and Bronze at the 65th. Every theme score must also be at least 30, and other medal eligibility rules apply. The score threshold for a Committed badge is at least 45. A Fast Mover badge requires a score of 34–44 and an improvement of at least 6 points from the previous assessment within 18 months. Badges also have separate 360° Watch and eligibility rules. Recognition is valid for 12 months and applies only to the assessed entity.

What should you send when a customer asks for your EcoVadis score?

Share the current scorecard through the platform or send a copy if your subscription permits it. State the assessed entity, publication date, overall score, four theme scores, percentile and any medal or badge. If you include improvement actions, separate planned work from completed work.

Example

Hypothetical example: Suppose a cold-chain warehouse operator in Saudi Arabia receives an overall score of 58, a 72nd-percentile rank and theme scores of 64, 54, 51 and 42. The 72nd percentile is 7 points above the 65th-percentile Bronze threshold, and its lowest theme score is 12 points above the minimum of 30.

Those two checks do not guarantee a Bronze medal. The operator must still check the activity restrictions, 360° Watch rules and other eligibility conditions in force on the scorecard publication date.
