Germany GHG emissions calculator

Work out your company's carbon footprint with official German electricity data, free and in about ten minutes. Built for businesspeople, not sustainability experts.

Local factor notes

What this country estimate uses

Uses German Environment Agency UBA 2025 estimated direct greenhouse gas electricity factor.

UBA also publishes a value including upstream emissions. Select the factor required by the reporting method before filing.

Collect kWh by German site and retain the electricity bill or landlord allocation.
Keep renewable electricity claims separate from location-based electricity unless the request asks for market-based data.
CSRD value-chain requests may need supplier-specific Scope 3 evidence beyond this first screen.

Germany questions

01Does the EU sustainability reporting rule apply directly to my German company?

That depends on company size, status, timing, and current implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Many companies outside direct scope still receive customer data requests.

02Why are German suppliers being asked for emissions data?

Customers covered by the EU sustainability reporting rule or internal climate programs may ask suppliers for energy and emissions data to improve their value-chain reporting.

03Which UBA electricity factor should I use?

The calculator uses UBA's 2025 estimated direct greenhouse gas factor for the German electricity mix. Check the request method before formal use.

04Can this calculator help with a European value-chain request?

Yes. It can identify the data you have, the gaps you need to close, and the assumptions to explain to a customer.

05What records should I keep before submitting emissions to a customer?

Keep electricity and gas bills, fuel receipts, fleet logs, refrigerant service records, travel exports, waste invoices, and notes on which sites and entities you counted.
